Introduction to the brief.

'BEAUTY AND THE BRAND'

This unit focuses on make up for the fashion industry, in particular how a brand will develop ideas and designs in spring/summer 2016 collections that will then filter down to consumer products. Work for this unit will need to reflect our personal style, yet will most importantly be fitting with our chosen brands style and ethos. Sketch blogs should show a vast degree of research and planning that conveys how we as makeup artists/designers have processed our initial ideas and concepts into the final images.
When researching the chosen brand the 5 P's should be taken into consideration, these being; Product, Packaging, Presentation, Price point and Promotion. This will allow us to analyse and consider a specific brands aesthetics to then produce 6 images consisting of 2 advertising day and night looks, 2 editorial and 2 catwalk images that heavily relate to this.

After choosing the brand the brands history, the type of models they hire, the ethos, the target audience and representation should be analysed to gain a full understanding of who we are creating a product/look for. When it comes to designing the looks it is important to remember that the catwalk looks will probably be the opportunity to make a statement as catwalk shows have the purpose to wow and shock the viewer, the actual cosmetics/garments will then be a product of this show that relate to the theme. When thinking about the advertising images it is worth remembering that these will often be images that consumers believe to be wearable and something that they themselves could recreate and wear, as if this is not portrayed then the products may not be purchased. Throughout all 6 looks you should show signs of congruity and they should compliment each other.
